Mozambican police arrest man suspected of poisoning beer

MAPUTO, Mozambique (AP) — Police in Mozambique say they have arrested a man suspected of poisoning traditional beer that killed more than 70 people last month.

Provincial police spokesman Luis Nudia said Wednesday that police arrested Graciano Antonio after he fled the northeast Tete province.

Health authorities said nearly 200 people were hospitalized after drinking traditional beer at a funeral in the region. Pombe, a traditional Mozambican beer, is made from millet or corn flour and brewed for about two days.
