Fox News Fabricates An Obama QuoteLast edited Sun Apr 22, 2012, 07:23 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2)
Source: Talking Points Memo
In a recent campaign-trail speech, President Obama delivered a line that was widely construed as a jab at Mitt Romney. But it turns out part of what crystallized that portrayal appears to be a fabrication. " Somebody gave me an education,” the president said last Wednesday in a Elyria, Ohio speech, discussing equality of opportunity. “I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. Michelle wasn’t. But somebody gave us a chance — just like these folks up here are looking for a chance.” The “silver spoon” comment turned many heads in the media and was depicted as a swipe against Romney, whose father George Romney is a former governor of Michigan. Fueling that characterization was Steve Doocy of Fox News, who while interviewing Romney on live TV Thursday, quoted Obama as saying, “Unlike some people, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” Read more: http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/04/fox-news-fabricate-obama-quote-silver-spoon.php?ref=fpa The "silver spoon" quote was then twisted and misquoted by a Fox News poseur named Steve Doocy, who: while interviewing Romney on live TV Thursday, quoted Obama as saying, “Unlike some people, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.” But Obama never prefaced his statement with the words “unlike some people,” as evident in the video of the speech (9:22 minute mark). The words do not appear in the official transcript either. 13. I saw Major Garrett
|
back in 08 at the New Hampshire primaries and asked him if he'd seen Bill O'Reilly's gay lover. Garrett replied by saying O'Reilly had one in every state. He then looked directly into the camera and said goodbye Fox, goodbye job. Methinks he happier now that he isn't forced to lie for a pay check.

four months from now at 3am they will state that they 'misquoted a statement by an official and they regret the error.'

8. And so what if he did say "unlike some people..."
|
So it's true and maybe Rmoney and his cronies would like us to forget it.
You can't grow up a privileged kid who had to struggle through college by selling off stock from your portfolio and pretend you understand those of us who worked two jobs (at least) in college to get by. I worked two jobs in college and my grades suffered because I was so tired all the time. Tell me how you understand my life Mr. Romney. |

16. No surprise that it was Doocy...
|
the definitive douche bag of Faux Noise.
His obsequious and prissy manner literally makes my skin crawl. Of all of the demented crew over there, he's the worst. I imagine him in school as the awkward 99-pound outsider trying to ingratiate himself to the "big boys" by licking their asses and fawning over them. |

and so what? His point stands. 99% percent of us only need an opportunity and we can make our own way after that.
