A retired Marine pleaded not guilty Friday to first-degree murder in the 2011 death of his girlfriend in Panama, where her dismembered body was discovered two years later in a military-style bag.

Federal prosecutors allege that Brian Karl Brimager, 37, started physically abusing his girlfriend, 42-year-old Yvonne Baldelli, shortly after renting a room on a small remote island of Isla Carenero in the Panamanian archipelago of Bocas del Toro. Almost immediately, prosecutors say he started emailing a former girlfriend to discuss returning to California to help raise their daughter.

It wasn’t long before prosecutors say his relationship with Baldelli devolved into physical abuse. Then in November 2011, Brimager allegedly killed Baldelli, dismembered her body, and disposed of the body parts in the jungle just off the coast of the island.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, within a few hours of the killing, Brimager used Baldelli’s computer to search “washing mattress” and “washing mattress blood stain.”

Maybe we should include mental illnesses among those supports that the reich wing is always blabbering about.

I have a cousin that puts this crap out on FB every other day, and I nearly want to tell her to go to hell. Yes...supporting the troops is a nice jingle. Try NOT sending them into needless wars to die and possibly return home scarred and mental needy. Maybe support them with ALL the medical and mental needs they will have developed as a result of the torture we put them through. I am just so damned sick of hearing that jingle from repuKKKes who honestly couldn't care less about the troops, the poor, the struggling, or needy of any kind.

Ex-Marine charged in girlfriend's 2011 Panama murder

The ex-boyfriend of a Los Angeles woman who disappeared in 2011 in Panama and whose dismembered body was found there nearly two years later has been indicted on first-degree murder charges in her death.

Brian Brimager, 37, a retired Marine, was indicted by a federal grand jury in San Diego Friday in the death of 42-year-old Yvonne Baldelli. He pleaded not guilty at a subsequent arraignment. Brimager has been in U.S. custody since June 2013 on charges of obstruction of justice, giving false statements to a federal officer and falsifying records in connection with the case.

Brimager and Baldelli moved together from Los Angeles to Panama in September 2011 in search of a fresh start. Baldelli's family reported her missing the following January after she failed to show up for a reunion.

Her family has said Baldelli, a clothing designer, was frequently out of touch so they did not immediately suspect anything was wrong.
