Cruz attacks Lynch, then skips her confirmation vote
Source: McClatchy DC
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, lectured his colleagues in a floor speech Thursday about how unsuitable Loretta Lynch was for U.S. attorney general, only to skip the vote on her confirmation and catch a plane to Dallas for a meeting and a fundraiser for his presidential campaign.
Cruz, who has been one of Lynchs chief antagonists, was the only senator who missed the vote, which made the New York federal prosecutor the nations newest chief law enforcement officer by vote of 56-43.
Cruzs absence was noteworthy and set political networks buzzing, because just a few hours earlier on the Senate floor he chided Republicans for failing to band together against her nomination.
...
Cruz has come under fire for missing votes and failing to attend committee meetings as he gears up his presidential campaign. On Wednesday, he was the only senator to miss the 99-0 vote approving an anti-human trafficking bill shepherded by Cornyn.

Rafael Edward "Ted" Cruz has just performed a trifecta of racism, sexism and dickishness.

(60,334 posts)You know how campaign ads are always indicating that the opposition voted for or against this or that. Well Cruz has figured out that if you don't vote, you can't get pinned down by those claims.

(5,106 posts)his looney father, and such naked ambition, that he doesn't seem to realize just how obvious his "moves" are to any citizen with a modicum of intelligence. His first term in Congress, he feels fine in neglecting the job that he was elected for (only in Texas) in favor of fundraising for his vanity presidential run. In the recent polls on the 2016 race, which Hillary dominated, he was notably missing any notable percentage points among his party rivals. Political commentators notably question when his much vaunted intellect is going to show up. One (sorry I can't directly attribute) noted that he may have a high I.Q., but his E.Q. is sadly lacking. That's been my take since he first surfaced from the ooze.
