LINCOLN — A state senator wants to formally study disbanding the Nebraska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in response to its approval of a project for the commercial disposal of oil-production wastewater.

Sen. Ken Haar of Malcolm said Thursday he is upset that the commission ignored a letter signed by seven state senators seeking a delay in considering the wastewater disposal well in northwest Nebraska. The commission approved the controversial project Wednesday, despite the senators’ request for more time to study the regulation of disposal wells.

“I for one am angry, and I hope we can do something about it,” Haar said.

Bill Sydow, director of the Sidney-based commission, said the State Attorney General’s Office had advised the agency that it should not delay the vote.

the states attorney general tells the commission not to delay the vote.
Then out of courtesy to oil and gas backed polluting commissioners industry, the elected representative send a letter for the population of the state and its ignored (who has more power------commission called hacks for oil and gas).
This tells you two things----one, there commissioners and we don't care about any stinking ground water to live off of.
Two , who does the attorney general work for---apparently he sides with the same hacks the commissioners back----oil and gas, nice guy.
Hey, Nebraska have you seen and read what's going on in Montana and North Dakota or there pollution up in there in there republican ALEC right wing controlled oil and gas commissioner states--------all water flows down hill from the Continental Divide and it pollutes rivers and ground water-------I guess you don't drink this water-------you have special bottled water from ALEC------and you keep voting these same people into office e thinking they are with you--------really------there are a couple of right wing governors that are firing Wisconsin DNR staff and another one from Florida telling the staff not to say climate change or they will get fired-----there republicans

I have watched to a good part of the meeting for the Nebraska Oil and Gas Commission. Everyone was well educated and had valid points from traffic impacts ot the financial instability of the company. Bold Nebraska and Nebraska Sierra Club did a good job are trying to fight LB 1161 that gave pipeline companies, Trans Canada eminent domain.

Happy belated Earth Day.
