This is so wrong. Law enforcement from another state should not be used to police.

And if so, WTF were they thinking?

Is he sending a film crew along with them so he can use the footage in his (hopefully brief) presidential campaign where he attempts to impress right wingers that he can push minorities around with the best of them.

There's nothing like a gaggle of racist NJ troopers to stir the pot and make things worse.

Can't miss this opportunity to support murdering lawless policemen by murdering more folks. Doesn't want Baltimore cops to get all the fun.

Christie could have called and volunteered them, you know? Actually I didn't hear who called whom first, but still Christie is reveling in this opportunity to look tough for the racist base.

The Governor of Maryland must have asked Christie to send troops, which means that the Maryland National Guard is not enough.

I spent 3 years in a Military Police company and we trained for crowd control ONCE in those three years, right before we were deployed to Panama to support the regular Army MP's who were manning camps holding the Cuban refugees in 1994 and 1995.
Of course the military being the military, I think only our attached medics ever went to the camps and the rest of us performed garrison duty (essentially acting as regular police on a US base) for two weeks. We hadn't trained for garrison duty either at any time prior to our deployment.

from their checkered past (which has still not been completely purged) -

They were the hotbed of racial profiling back in the late '80s and early '90s, finally bringing the issue of "driving while black" to the fore of national attention.
