With rescuers near, girls stoned to death by Boko Haram

Source: AP

By MICHELLE FAUL

YOLA, Nigeria (AP) — Boko Haram fighters stoned some of their captives to death as Nigeria's military approached to rescue the women, survivors told The Associated Press on Sunday.

Several women died when they were crushed mistakenly by a Nigerian military armored car.

And three were blown up by a land mine as they were walking to freedom.

These tragic stories come from girls and women brought to a refugee camp here, still finding it hard to believe they are safe, some after more than a year in the hands of Nigeria's homegrown Islamic extremists.

FULL story and photo gallery at link.

They were among a group of 275 people rescued from the Islamic extremists, the first to arrive at the refugee camp Saturday after a three-day journey to safety. The Nigerian military said it has rescued more than 677 girls and women and destroyed more than a dozen insurgent camps in the past week. (AP Photo/Sunday Alamba)

A year ago, they were making no progress.

I am VERY glad to see that there have been no more "atrocity" reports since they massacred that Christian village.

I'm all for rescue, but I also want the perpetrators eliminated. (Killed.)

Prison is too good for them.

spiritual adviser, priest and weapons supplier should be killed by firing squad and cremated in a massive bonfire.

If it was on pay-per-view, I'd pay to watch it.

They defile the Quran with their crimes, and I doubt that even a sect as rabid as the Wahabbi could ever condone such psychotic malice. They have forfeited the consideration one might afford a cockroach, and should be wiped off the face of the Earth, along with Al Shabab, ISIS, and any other malignancies that use religion to justify their atrocities.

Are you listening, Westboro, et al?

they don't kidnap and rape girls, or burn people to death in cages, last I heard.

What Westboro does is evil with a small 'e', relative to those other groups. They need to be resisted and ignored when possible. But as long as their actions are not physically violent they don't belong lumped with those other groups.

part of the risk unfortunately. I'm glad they weren't able to hurt more than they did. I think there is a special spot in Hell for people who joined Boko Haram. May they find it soon.
