Source: Bloomberg
CVS Health Corp. will pay $1.9 billion to buy Target Corp.s pharmacies and clinics, expanding its reach by adding stores bearing its name inside the second-largest discount retail chain in the U.S.
CVS Health will acquire Targets more than 1,660 pharmacies across 47 states and operate them through a store-within-a-store format, branded as CVS/pharmacy, the companies said today in a statement. All new Target stores with pharmacy services will include a CVS/pharmacy, they said.

(813 posts)UFCW doesn't have a lot of clout, but it's better than NO union at all. Maybe they can organize the rest of Target. Little people have to work for these companies IRL. They don't get a choice any more.

(752 posts)I'm one of those "little" people IRL, as you so condecendingly put it.
Do you want me to tell you about what it's like to work for Target, or are you already well versed in that experience?

(813 posts)I was a Kroger "little" person for twelve years. I didn't have a choice where to work either. I guess that's the point I was trying to get across to the "CVS is the devil" people. Sorry I offended you.

(27,161 posts)I love my Target pharmacy.
All the employees know me (sad in a way!) and are super nice.
I also get a 5% shopping day at Target for every 5 scripts filled.
Happens far too often, but it's a nice perk.

I think the last independent closed its doors recently. It's a damned shame...

(56 posts)Someday, there will only be CVS, and CVS by other names, like Longs. (Yes, they would have trouble eating Walgreens.) I don't understand it. Their stock is always a mess, their products are overpriced, and they always put ratty little black carpet squares all over their floors. At least they didn't make Longs do the carpet squares. So there is some hope.

(23,340 posts)My health plan requires I get my prescriptions from them.
Some of the most incompetent people in the working world "work" as pharmaceutical technicians for CVS, at my local store.
Every time I get a prescription refilled, it is like playing the lotto.
I might get the right quantity.
I might get the right price.
I might get service within an hour of arrival. The prescription might be filled, despite what they assured me on the phone.
If I call them on the phone, the call might be answered in 15 minutes. Or not.
But otherwise, they are fabulous.
