Explosion at fireworks warehouse in China kills 15

BEIJING (AP) — A warehouse containing fireworks exploded in northern China, killing 15 people, a local authority said Monday.
The explosion Sunday morning happened in Ningjin county in Hebei province, which borders Beijing, and also left two other people seriously injured, according to the microblog of the county's propaganda office.
The explosion shattered nearby windows and even those of a flour factory about 1 kilometer (mile) away, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. Photos on the news website 163.com appeared to show the warehouse's roof had blown off.

• When my family went to local firework displays, I would stay home.
• When my family went to Disneyland, I'd use the firework time as an opportunity to hit rides when the lines were short.
I have never seen any "beauty" in them. (But I will admit when I was a kid I did like the family gatherings around the "legal" fireworks).
Now that I have a pup that I love and care about to pieces—who drools, eyes bulge, ears alerted, becomes unresponsive, during the loud bangs of illegal fireworks—I 100% hate them; and just can't understand how the use of fireworks can be labeled "illegal" in California, and yet so rampant for about 2 months around July. You wouldn't believe how crazy the 4th of July was around the corner of my house this year. The street was filled with firework trash like I've never seen before, for 50 yards. The police (I know they're over worked on the 4th with more urgent matters), took over 2 hours to respond and shut the huge display down. We had taken our scared dog out of the area from 7pm-11pm. By then the worst was over.
Two nights ago (10th of July) we had fireworks that shook our house so much I thought the windows were going to blow out. This firework stuff is nuts!
