Donald Trump to Aide Accused of Racist Posts: You're Fired

Source: Bloomberg News

Donald Trump fired a political aide Sunday over alleged racist Facebook postings, a sign that the new Republican presidential front-runner is working to add a professional patina to his campaign. He also raised the possibility of a third-party run.

"If I am not treated fairly by the Republican Party, I very well might consider that," Trump said Sunday in a phone interview on ABC's This Week. On the same day, Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski announced the firing of Sam Nunberg, an on-again, off-again Trump aide who has been accused of making racist posts on Facebook.

Nunberg, who says he doesn't remember writing them, did not respond to efforts to reach him for comment. The posts, which use racial epithets and make mocking references to President Barack Obama's African heritage, were first unearthed by Business Insider.

On ABC, Trump pointedly refused to comply with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus' call for Republican presidential candidates to pledge not to run third-party campaigns if they do not get the nomination.

I'm trying to imagine how bad Facebook posts could be for Trump, of all people, to fire someone for racism.

Donald Trump’s campaign has fired a staffer after it was discovered he made offensive and racially-charged posts to Facebook, including ones where Rev. Al Sharpton’s daughter was called a “n—–” and President Barack Obama was called a “Socialist Marxist Islamo Fascist Nazi Appeaser.”

The posts by Sam Nunberg, a Trump political adviser, were first reported by Business Insider. The comments aren’t new, but date back as far as 2007.

You'd have to twist yourself up in some strange knots to satisfy that description.

and then fired last year after he urged Trump to cooperate in a profile that didn't flatter him enough. So this 'low level staffer' who 'is just a short-term consultant' was influential enough to be able to persuade Trump what to do.

Trump said his first reaction was not to do the interview, saying, “I understand what Buzzfeed is.”

“But Sam said to me, ‘This guy is a friend of mine. It’s going to be a great story. I have confidence it will be fair.’ So I actually did the interview as a courtesy to Sam.

“But I said to Sam, ‘If this guy writes a fair story, that’s fine. But if he writes a wise-guy story, you’ll be fired.’ And I said to Sam, ‘OK?’

Yeah, Trump really is the kind of guy who extends courtesies to 'low level staffers'. I mean, isn't that obvious from the way he treats everyone?

Mr. Nunberg played a significant role in opposing the construction of the Ground Zero Mosque both at the New York City Landmark Commission hearing and subsequent legal action.

Oh, what a surprise, the bigot is a bigot.
