Dozens of teachers rallied in support of the head of the Detroit Federation of Teachers this morning as a union trial opened that could cost him his job.
Steve Conn, 57, is facing various misconduct charges before the executive board of the union.
Conn's supporters described the trial as a witch hunt sparked by people who are still angry that the controversial Conn was elected president in January.
For the first time in my career, I feel like we have a president who picks up the phone and fights for us, instead of selling us out, said Renaissance High School teacher Beth Plumridge.
