Ex-Wife Says Donald Trump Kept Book of Hitler's Speeches By His Bed
Source: Business Insider- four hours ago
According to a 1990 Vanity Fair interview, Ivana Trump once told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that her husband, real-estate mogul Donald Trump, now a leading Republican presidential candidate, kept a book of Hitler's speeches near his bed. "Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, My New Order, which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed ... Hitler's speeches, from his earliest days up through the Phony War of 1939, reveal his extraordinary ability as a master propagandist," Marie Brenner wrote.
Hitler was one of history's most prolific orators, building a genocidal Nazi regime with speeches that bewitched audiences. "He learned how to become a charismatic speaker, and people, for whatever reason, became enamored with him," Professor Bruce Loebs, who has taught a class called the Rhetoric of Hitler and Churchill for the past 46 years at Idaho State University, told Business Insider earlier this year.
"People were most willing to follow him, because he seemed to have the right answers in a time of enormous economic upheaval." When Brenner asked Trump about how he came to possess Hitler's speeches, "Trump hesitated" and then said, "Who told you that?" In the Vanity Fair article, Ivana Trump told a friend that her husband's cousin, John Walter "clicks his heels and says, 'Heil Hitler," when visiting Trump's office.
"I don't remember," Brenner reportedly replied. Trump then recalled, "Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of 'Mein Kampf,' and he's a Jew." Brenner added that Davis did acknowledge that he gave Trump a book about Hitler.
"But it was 'My New Order,' Hitler's speeches, not 'Mein Kampf,'" Davis reportedly said. "I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish." After Trump and Brenner changed topics, Trump returned to the subject and reportedly said, "If, I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."

(16,286 posts)a single word he is saying, and it is so obvious to someone with a brain, i.e. liberal, but he is ready made for the right.
They are unintelligent, childish in the way they respond to pressure and societal problems, and he speaks to them the same way Hitler did to scared and economically bankrupted Germans.
The part of all this that I just love, however, is that there are ALLEGED democrats, some right here at DU, who believe it is either their candidate or fuck it, let the cons have it.
THAT is what amazes me.

(3,937 posts)Davis clarified that he is not Jewish, and that the book was indeed My New Order. I did give him a book about Hitler, he said. But it was My New Order, Hitlers speeches, not Mein Kampf. I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but Im not Jewish.

(15,237 posts)My Grandfather was a distant cousin and met Prescott as a boy. In later life he had a couple well known Democratic friends who used to tease him about that. When George became head of the CIA Grandfather identified HW as "Prescott's boy" and actually called a relative to make sure he was the one. By the time HW went on to bigger things my Grandfather was long gone. The way he left it they, Bush's, were all crooks, beyond reading well known Bush family history I never researched how I am related. That whole family is spooky.

(15,237 posts)When I took a class on World War II years ago Mein Kampf and Hitlers speeches were required reading. I cannot imagine anyone actually reading this for enjoyment or inspiration. Even American Neo Nazi's at the time of the class based on historical analysis were unaware and apparently beyond basic slogans, what Hitler promoted. Setting aside Goodwins law based on someone who might seek this out for content the possibility does exist that rhetorical technique is being studied. One possibility explored in the class Hitler does not translate well into English which is why it does not resonate when you attempt to read Hitler. The main value in such an exercise is to discredit Holocaust deniers, Hitler did based on real evidence what he said he was going to do in writings and speeches. If Trump actually does read such drivel voluntarily draw your own conclusions. Expect scapegoats an old Trump tactic.

Let me suggest, dear reader, that if you need a break from the gasbag, picture Evilhair dancing across the stage at the debate, to these tunes. Or hiding in a bunker. Your choice.
It makes the fact that he could win a lot less scary. Because most of us know how it worked out for ol' Adolph.

There is a problem , it seems I've been outed by an x. This is not good, there is much under talk and innuendo whispers about
my method of studying oratory. The Jersey journalists are on to Christie's ways of mesmerizing the audience in those little town hall meets that jerk is capitalizing by. Some of those people were interviewed outside the town hall meetings after the event and those people were summed up as being in a trance like state ,rather stupefied . And to top it all off Christie talked about a 13 year friendship between he and I ,and those free dinners I provided for that dork.
This is not good, the next thing you know, they will be calling me satan. And Christie my right hand man.
That is not my idea of great entertainment.
There is a problem. Make matters worse that nit brain Dubu made mention of a nazi style campaign publicly, he was referring to the Obama campaign as he was soon to be on his way out. And Nixon said "even if you did it or are doing it you blame it on the democrats -you accuse them of being exactly what you yourself are or are doing." If all this gains any traction there will be hell to pay ,that's what I say.
But soon my jet action rocket powered golf cart will be ready for show and as the saying goes the show must go on !
I've been hexed by an x folks !
