Source: News 10

By Karla Ann Coté

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Registered nurses at Ellis Medicine in Schenectady and Bellevue Women’s Center in Niskayuna called off a strike after reaching an agreement on Saturday, August 29.

An agreement was finally reached on a new labor contract after the New York State Nurses Association notified Ellis Hospital of a potential strike this upcoming Thursday, September 3.

After over a year of negotiations, the nurses say they reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract.

In a statement Kelly Gauthier, a registered nurse at Ellis says, “After many long hours of open and honest conversation, we reached an agreement that is good for the hospital, our patients, and the nurses.”
