OAKLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine State Police said four people died in a shooting on Belgrade Road in Oakland Wednesday night.

According to deputies, the alleged gunman, 42-year-old Herman Derico, killed two women and a man inside the home before shooting himself outside. Police say dispatch received numerous 911 calls coming in around 8:00 p.m. Thursday night, including a call coming from one of the woman who was shot.

Police have identified the victims as 30-year-old Amanda Bragg, 29-year-old Michael Muzerolle, and 28-year-old Amy Derosby. They said Bragg and Muzerolle were the parents of the 4-year-old girl found alive and unharmed inside the house when police arrived. Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the young girl has been removed from the house and is now with other relatives.

"We don't have a clear understanding of why this happened," said Lt. Troy Gardner of the Maine State Police.
