A French prosecutor has ordered an initial inquiry into claims that ex-IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn was involved in "gang rape" in Washington.
The allegations come from a Belgian prostitute who said she was at a hotel sex party in the city in December 2010.
Mr Strauss-Kahn, 63, is already under investigation with three other men over their alleged roles in a prostitution ring. He denies the allegations.
A charge that he attempted to rape a US hotel maid was dropped last year.

(55,445 posts)1. It allegedly happened on our soil
2. The victim isn't a French national
3. No complaint, report, or charges were ever filed with D.C. police...
That's how I understand it, unless I'm missing some major detail...

(8,556 posts)When he was first accused by the maid I got the impression he was guilty. Then when that case fell apart I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe the maid might have made it up. But I'm starting to swing back towards my original position that the dude is a straight up creeper.

Someone powerful wants him out BAD.

(6,801 posts)If you wanted to destroy someone who is a known "creep" what better way than multiple rape allegations?
I don't doubt he harasses women, or employs prostitutes, or the like. But gang-rape charges right after getting previous rape charges dropped?
Seems a bit much. He could very well be guilty.
Then again: throw enough accusations at someone and they will appear guilty. Especially if there is a kernel of truth (like that he employed prostitutes, but didn't rape them. There's just enough there to back up the accusation).
