USGS: Magnitude-7 earthquake strikes southwest of Japan

TOKYO (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a 7-magnitude has struck off the southwest coast of Japan.

The USGS says the quake struck at 5:51 a.m. local time (2051 GMT) about 159 kilometers (99 miles) southwest of Makurazaki, Japan.
