Portraits of black faculty members defaced at Harvard Law

By COLLIN BINKLEY

BOSTON (AP) — Portraits of several black professors were found vandalized at Harvard Law School on Thursday, a day after a campus rally for black students.

Black strips of tape were placed diagonally over at least five photo portraits, Harvard officials said. Students and professors noticed the tape as classes met on Thursday morning at Wasserstein Hall, which houses two hallways lined with framed portraits of more than 180 professors.

All of the portraits that were targeted depict black professors, but some portraits of black professors appeared to be untouched. Harvard officials said they don't know why some professors were singled out or who's responsible.

"Expressions of hatred are abhorrent, whether they be directed at race, sex, sexual preference, gender identity, religion or any other targets of bigotry," the law school's dean, Martha Minow, said in a statement.

some of the best and the brightest. Race relations are in the pits in this country and it's growing worse day by day. God By this time next year, I can't begin to imagine how much hate will be out there in the 'intelligentsia' and in the not so intelligent. I see where Keith Ellis, a Congressional Representative had a police officer pointing a rifle at his son during a peaceful demonstration. I just saw the incident mentioned here, yet I can't seem to find it anymore. The demonstration was the result of another execution of an unarmed black citizen.

….of Obama being President. It's driving white racists bat-shit crazy. The racism in the country isn't really worse than it's ever been. But what they've always carried and felt is now coming out into the open.

The country's refusal to deal with its true history is eating it up alive.

But the fact that he is President and that we have BLM and some growing LGBT power is real progress.
