Hillary Clinton touts economic plan, bashes Trump in Nashville

Hillary Clinton energized her Nashville troops Friday evening with a speech that played to the full spectrum of Democratic constituencies, making pitches to raise the minimum wage, combat climate change, pursue gun control and fight for equal pay for women.
The Democratic presidential primary frontrunner spoke for about 30 minutes in a packed old gymnasium at Fisk University, a historically black college in North Nashville. More than 1,000 people cheered her on and hundreds more were unable to get inside because of space limitations as Clinton implored them to send her to the White House.
At one point, the former U.S. secretary of state called out what she described as inflammatory rhetoric coming from Republican candidates ............

Weve had such extraordinary success, she said. And here Mr. Trump has attacked Mexican immigrants. Hes attacked women. And now hes attacking Muslim Americans. At some point you have to ask yourself, 'Is that the kind of country we are?' Were smarter than that.
The trip marked Clinton's first campaign swing through Tennessee: she also made a stop in Memphis earlier in the day. Its a state that she easily carried in 2008 in the Democratic primary against then-U.S. Sen. Barack Obama. And its also a state that is part of her campaigns plan to create a political firewall across the South to clinch the Democratic nomination in 2016.
