2 Investigates: Local refugees deported for violent crimes

ATLANTA —

The terrorist attacks in Paris put a big spotlight on refugees around the country.

A new Channel 2 Action News investigation uncovered refugees deported from the United States at a skyrocketing rate for violent crimes. That includes refugees deported from Georgia.

A few thoughts. I'd bet that the percent of refugees who commit violent crimes is probably in line with the percent of US citizens who commit the same types of crimes. I also suspect that refugees are deported for most infractions of the law, whereas citizens will make their way through the legal system (and sometimes be found not-guilty and released).

And yes, my take on this is that WSB is using scare tactics and sensationalism to gin up viewership.
