Man behind armed Oregon band says he's on mission from God

Source: AP

Ammon Bundy came to Oregon hoping to rally support behind his cause, but his tactics have been broadly rejected by many locals, by the state's main ranching group and by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which the Bundy family has belonged to for generations.

In a statement issued Monday, Mormon leaders said the Oregon land dispute "is not a church matter," but they condemned the seizure and said they were "deeply troubled" by reports that suggest the armed group is acting "based on Scriptural principles."

The ranchers that Ammon Bundy came to defend rejected his assistance and on Monday voluntarily surrendered to serve a federal prison term on a 2012 conviction on charges of committing arson on federal land.

A leader of the group Oath Keepers_past and present members of the military, first-responders and police officers who pledge to uphold the Constitution— issued a statement saying Ammon Bundy has gone too far. Many Oath Keepers were at the 2014 Bundy ranch standoff in Nevada.

You guys should watch the show each day because they go into detail covering this and I found out way more about bundy than any other news outlet has shown. They're interviewing people who know him and people who stop his type. It's a one hour daily news show and they'll start by mentioning him in the first 10 minutes as they go through the world news. I believe the show is out about 8am each morning. I watch it at noon on my lunch hour at work.

In fact, aren't we all on missions from God, whether we want to be or not???? Isn't that sort of what life is about, having your own personal mission from God -- being whatever mission it may be.

I really don't see anything particularly special about being on a mission from God. But then, I'm a Unitarian, and I think God is pretty much everywhere. So -- maybe that's why I think I'm on a mission from God and that most people at least act like they are on a mission from God.

The guy is an egomaniac who doesn't realize there is nothing special at all about him. It's called being narcissistic. We all have a bit of it. Some have more than others.

Evolution is a funny thing. Some have evolved further than others. I never can be sure just how far on the scale of evolution I am in the perception of others. But, at least all this confusion makes life interesting.

It's just so crazy that people are so sure they are right. I am not so sure. I try to be right, but to be so absolutely certain is just a state I don't know much about. Feeling you are right with absolute certainty is amazing to me.

I love my sister, she has a chemical imbalance in her brain. These people are just bonafide idiots. It has nothing to do with evolution, but ignorance at their own volition. Their ignorance can / and does cause real harm to those just trying to survive. I have no love for them.

I can't figure out why religious people don't all go the Church of God.

I mean, duh, what's the point of going to another other church?

I saw a place called the Assembly of God. That's a head scratcher. Do you have to bring your own tools? Does He come with instructions from IKEA? What if you end up with parts leftover?

And what's with all the places called "First Baptist Church"? Where's the Ninth Baptist Church? Never see that one.

... says he's following instructions from a voice in his head, it is customary to confine, restrain, and sedate him, if the cops don't pop his melon with a .223 round first. But if he calls the voice, "GAWD," then somehow it's okay.

Seriously? Have we, as a nation, sunk so low in the fetid swamp of delirious fantasy that we'll give the fevered gibberish of an over-grown child desperate for attention so much as a nanosecond of credibility?

Apparently so. One such oily con artist is currently running for the Republican presidential nomination, and befouling the airwaves with sanctimonious lies. And yes, that could describe any one of them.

This has all gone beyond being a pitiful farce. Now it's scary.
