Law enforcement bikers fought outlaw gang in deadly Denver melee

DENVER (Reuters) - A gun and knife fight at a Denver motorcycle show that left one person dead and seven wounded was between an outlaw biker gang and a club with many law enforcement members, lawyers for both groups said on Sunday.

Lawyers for the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, whose members include large numbers of law enforcement and the military, and the Mongols Motorcycle Club, which federal authorities deem an “outlaw motorcycle gang”, each blamed the other side for starting Saturday's brawl.

John C. Whitfield, an attorney for the Iron Order, said a handful of members of that group acted in self-defense after they were surrounded by at least 30 Mongols.

“One of our members is African-American and one of the Mongols made a racial slur,” and a fight ensued, Whitfield said.











Apr 26, 2013 PRESCOTT, AZ - Whiskey Row in the Arizona mountain town of Prescott has seen its share of bar fights, biker gangs and rowdies.

But the bar fights aren't supposed to involve a biker gang made up of police officers carrying brass knuckles and knives. The fallout from such a brawl in December has led to the retirements of a police chief and two senior sheriff's officials and recommendations of felony charges against the former chief for his alleged role in trying to cover it up.

Two other current or former law enforcement officers and an ambulance supervisor face possible charges, and local and state agencies are investigating involved officers. At least one federal officer who also is an Iron Brotherhood Motorcycle Club was at the bar, and a Customs and Border Protection spokesman said the agency was looking into his role in the group.

The motorcycle club had many of the same rituals and garb as "outlaw" gangs, according to interviews and police reports. They used nicknames only, wore biker club patches and rewarded at least one member who got in a previous fight with a special patch.

So cop bike gangs are better than biker, biker gangs? Since When? Cops said a racial slur started he whole thing, but it's not like cops don't use racial slurs. Check the net. "A bunch or morons got in a fight with another bunch or morons. Not enough were killed" That's what the headline should read.

Some of the bikers were in Texas law enforcement! If a Black, Hispanic or Asian group were involved it would have been used as campaign rhetoric by the right wing politicians.
