Sanders endorsed by key SC Democrat
Source: The Hill
Former South Carolina Democratic Party chairman Richard Harpootlian on Wednesday endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for president.
"You sort of say, 'Well, can he do it?' " Harpootlian said, according to the New York Times. "It's like 2007, when I met Barack Obama fully intending to support Hillary Clinton. And after a half hour with him he convinced me, not convinced me so much as I saw a passion in him.
Hillary is not an agent of change I mean, her campaign slogan should be, Its my turn, he added.
Its hard for me to listen to how Hillary says she would fight Wall Street when she took hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from Goldman Sachs not 20 years ago, but a couple years ago. Shes talking the talk, but not walking the walk.

(41,182 posts)Very sharp, good communicator. When he stepped down from the NAACP, esp. in these times I was surprised. Good to know he's endorsing Bernie and engaged and active of course.

(972 posts)But gratified none-the-less. I'm hoping against hope that the few remaining sane individuals in my adopted state will see the light.
I've got Bernie stickers in the back window of my car. I only get the Finger seven or eight times a day.

(4,234 posts)I was inside getting a Christmas gift and came back to see a wiper blade on the asphalt beside my car. I thought for a second that somebody had lost a wiper blade, then checked and it was mine. Somebody had pulled off my rear wiper blade and left it by the driver's side door. When I got home I found that somebody had "keyed" my car just above the right rear wheel well. The only explanation I could come up with for it was my Bernie sticker on the right rear side of my back bumper area.
If it comes down to an election between Bernie and Trump or any of the insane far right jokers or jerks, be warned. Don't park at a distance from the store you go to, and watch where you park in general.

(5,857 posts)see my sticker and decided to "educate" me on socialism. "Its responsible for millions of deaths", he says. Me: "you're thinking of communism, you idiot!" I hadn't had my coffee and he still tries to engage me. Did I tell you that I hadn't had my coffee? Needless to say, he left with his tail between his legs. Sanders, the least hawkish candidate might needlessly kill people. WTF?

Years ago I thought Hillary was the answer but now she has too much
baggage. Capitalism and privatization doesn't work for 99% of us
nowadays. We need to go Bernie's direction.
She is a political junkie thinking it's her turn in the barrel.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Harpootlian has been active in South Carolina politics. He was popularly elected and served on Richland County Council from 1986 to 1991. He served as Chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2013. During his first tenure as Chair, the Party elected Governor James Hodges, the first candidate to unseat an incumbent South Carolina governor, and five other Democrats to statewide office.
