TNT caused explosion on Somali airliner

(CNN)A military grade of the explosive TNT caused this week's explosion on a Somali airliner, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN, citing an initial analysis of residue recovered from the aircraft.

The blast took place Tuesday on board a commercial plane after it set off above East Africa.

Two people were injured before the pilot landed safely, a passenger said.

Somali authorities later discovered a body near Mogadishu they believe fell from the Daallo Airlines plane.

Obviously any bomb on an airplane is horrible, but when only one guy is sucked out and killed, and that guy is the bomber, it's not the worst possible outcome.

Was the guy sitting in his wheelchair or what? Somali airlines are different, obviously!!! I'm trying to figure how that works--do they use a few tiedown chains so he doesn't roll--kinda like transporting a jeep in a c-130? LOL! Or did he remove the explosives from the chair after he cleared the security perimeter checkpoint (if such a thing exists and is even manned to any extent).

I occasionally travel with a couple of people who use wheelchairs (transport chairs) and those are always gate-checked...they end up being tagged and stowed below, not in the pax compartment.

which is not the best thing to use. I would bet that only a fraction detonated, which is why the Aircraft survived.

I mean in the movies when a gun is fired in the passenger compartment, everything in the plane is sucked out through the massive hole in the fuselage. At least that was one of the reasons given for pilots not being allowed guns in the cockpit.
