'We Have Recovered': Obama Touts Success Amid Unemployment Dip

Source: NBC News

Buoyed by wage-gains and record low unemployment, President Barack Obama underscored on Friday that his administration's efforts have helped usher in an economic recovery.

"We should be proud of the progress we have made," Obama told reporters during an appearance at the White House press briefing. "We have recovered from the worst economic crisis since the 1930s."

U.S. employers added 151,000 jobs in January, a deceleration from recent months as companies shed education, transportation and temporary workers but hired others in manufacturing, retail and food services.

The unemployment rate dipped to 4.9 percent, its lowest level since early 2008.

I'm making maybe 30% of what I did at the beginning the Obama presidency, after being unemployed for almost all of it.

There are over 7 million unemployed and lots of reduced earners.

But there are millions more employed and increased earners as the data show. To say your individual case refutes or is even material to aggregate data is the same as saying an individual anorexic means we are not seeing a burgeoning of obesity.

And that's my point - the 'recovery' has passed a lot of people by, not just me. Remember the early stats - 93% of the 'recovery' went to the richest among us. That number might, might have dropped a little, but the 'recovery' was still mostly among those who were already wealthy, not the rest of us.

Obama has literally saved America, even WITH the UNPRECEDENTED obstruction he faced.

And yet some who allegedly are liberals, dont see that, and I dont care anymore why, I am just sick of it.

Obama hasn't helped me one bit.

He was too soft with the GOP and too Wall Street in his policies

and after all that 2008 liberal campaign rhetoric.

He's more Reagan and Lincoln than he is FDR

He's waxed left and then right on the environment

Cap & trade, drilling regulations along with more drilling permits

Yes, there are vets on the left who understand it is OBAMA who got them that check.

Cheers to them.
But the economy, and this country, is still a mess, imo.
The 1% is living large but so many are still struggling, even those with a job. Sad times.

This is insulting BS to the vast majority of Americans for whom the growth has not trickled down. This is why Sanders MUST be the nominee, Clinton has tied herself to this failure of a "recovery".

I just did the calculations from the following BLS chart. Since October 2010, when this string of increased employment began, 12.916 million more Americans found employment.

http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001?output_view=net_1mth

The unemployment rate is now less than it was when BHO took office by .1%
