Republicans Eye Quick Obamacare Repeal If Party Wins White House

Source: Bloomberg News

Republicans in Congress are exploring a way to enact a repeal of Obamacare and other parts of their agenda soon after a new Republican president takes the oath of office in 2017.

Several Republicans said they’re discussing the possibility of adopting a budget this year that would let the next president’s agenda -- including top goals like repealing Obamacare -- bypass a Democratic filibuster at the very start of the year. Republicans used a similar move early this year to send a bill repealing much of Obamacare and defunding Planned Parenthood to President Barack Obama, who vetoed it.

The strategy would allow Republicans who control the House and Senate to put just such a bill on the desk of a new president if their party wins the White House, without having to grind through months of budget process. To succeed, Republicans need the Senate parliamentarian to let them use rules set by a budget resolution into the next Congress.

“It could be pretty powerful if it works,” said John Cornyn of Texas, the second-ranking Senate Republican. “We haven’t yet concluded one way or the other.”

but saying there is no difference between Hillary and the republicans is a bridge too far. She has consistently said she wants to build on O'Care and make it better. Haven't heard any R's saying that.

Single Payer was never going to make it through the Congress, and for that matter there's little hope of it making through the next one.

They are trying to destroy one-person-one-vote and replace it with one-dollar-one-vote.

I'm not joking in the least.

That is exactly what they are trying to do.

(And some supposed Democrats are helping them)

I have not mentioned this on DU but...this fucking crap would make it personal...MORE than personal.

My partner, of 32 years, would not have insurance if it were not for the ACA.

He was diagnosed with cancer (which then found had spread) on December 1st. Now, after having a chemo port installed AND a colostomy, he will begin his chemo next Wednesday.

The insurance is still not inexpensive under any circumstances but it is insurance and if he didn't have it, I'm not sure what we would do.

These filthy, evil, hate filled DEATH PANEL Pukes and Baggers are traitors to the American people.

Oh and...are you of the age for a colonoscopy? Get...it...done! My partner did not (in part due to several years of bad/worthless insurance) and now it may just kill him.

Think a colostomy is nothing...search colostomy and stoma...you do not want to go through this.

Democrats up who keeps bitching about "the other candidate"...

I have no doubts that if the Republicans win the WH, that means they probably will have won enough seats to keep Congress... and there goes the ACA, women's rights, minority rights, the environment, etc, etc,...

damn, I know you are passionate about your candidate but right now we need to be fighting to get as many D's in Congress as possible and in the White House... no matter what anyone believes, Bernie and Hillary pretty much want the same things and both will struggle to get anything through Congress, but either would be better than a Republican in the WH
