Teamsters strike vs. US Foods over 'unfair labor practices'

About 200 union workers in Tucson and Phoenix are picketing against food distributor US Foods, claiming discrimination against union employees and that the company is bargaining in bad faith.

The union's Local 104 represents Arizona drivers, mechanics and warehouse workers for the national food-service purveyor. The Teamsters have several pending cases against US Foods before the National Labor Relations Board.

Union officials didn't immediately respond to inquiries about the number of Teamsters striking in Tucson. Local union members are picketing a company warehouse at 831 E. 18th St.

The company, which delivers food and sundries to restaurants, schools and other institutional customers, said it was disappointed that union members had gone on strike.
