Change would allow handguns at Tennessee legislative complex

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The leaders of the Tennessee House and Senate are moving to end a total gun ban at the legislative office complex.
Sen. Ron Ramsey of Blountville and Rep. Beth Harwell of Nashville, the Republican speakers of the Senate and House, said Thursday that they want the begin allowing people with handgun carry permits to be armed within the Legislative Plaza.
Ramsey said he had wanted to make the change at the start of the year but the Tennessee Highway Patrol, which runs security at the facility, wanted more time to make logistical changes.
It's unclear whether the change would require another checkpoint to be set up at the underground tunnel to the Capitol.

(10,096 posts)We have churches, colleges, now legislative plaza's, gosh I can't even hardly think of any place they are prohibited anymore. I hope it comforts all the people that are feeling so frightened that they feel they need to have a gun with them at all times and all places.

The Democratic Party in Tennessee, by inaction, provides a rubber stamp for their Republican friends, imo. There are no attempts to inform voters. The Koch funded ALEC program to suppress the vote, kill social programs, fund only the MIC was a winner for the elite few.
I can never go "home".
