Pentagon Adopts Israeli Tactic In Bombing ISIS

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)The U.S. has adopted a unique Israeli battlefield tactic in its fight against ISIS: exploding a missile above a building to warn civilians inside that it's about to be bombed.

Israeli forces have widely used the so-called knock-on-the-roof operations in Gaza attacks in recent years to try to get civilians out before they are hit.

The first public revelation of the U.S. using a "knock operation" came Tuesday at a press briefing by Air Force Maj. Gen. Peter E. Gersten, deputy commander for operations and intelligence for the anti-ISIS Operation Inherent Resolve.

Gersten described a strike against an ISIS financial storage center on April 5 in southern Mosul, Iraq. The U.S. had been closely watching the house of an ISIS finance operative, or "finance emir" in the words of Gersten.

What the heck is our government doing except filling the coffers of the armament manufacturers. Israel can stand by itself, in my opinion. Meanwhile our citizens are suffering.

This old timer has had it. OK, I have no voice, but I'm ready to scream.

To Washington: Take care of those at home who are in need. No more bombs, guns, troops and other instruments of war.

To anyone running for office, take note. We, the electorate, are sick of almost everything that comes out of Washington.

The attack was in Iraq. There is no connection to Israel except in the use of a tactic that reduces civilian casualties.

is a good tactic worth borrowing, regardless where it came from.

Where did Patton learn the tank-based rapid attack-and-advance maneuvers he used in the advance on Berlin in WWII? They're the same ones the Nazis had used to sweep across Belgium and France earlier in the war.

The DoD is by several times the largest component of the Federal Budget. You may be, but "The People" are by no means sick of it. They are either A. pissing themselves with fear over ISIL, or B. employed by the DoD directly or indirectly.

Puts the lie to a lot of the criticism of Israel's conduct of the 2014 Gaza conflict. Apparently the military under Obama views this as the best way to minimize civilian casualties when fighting terrorists.
