CLEVELAND, Ohio When Hillary Clinton speaks Tuesday in Columbus, she will continue what has been a remarkably traditional beginning to her general election campaign.
The presumptive Democratic nominee for president is sticking with a battleground map that served President Barack Obama well. She and her allies have unleashed a blitz of early television ads aimed at shoring up their base. And Ohio, as always, is right in the thick of things.

Democrats say they now have 150 full-time employees on the ground in Ohio. It's a mix of Ohio Democratic Party and Democratic National Committee staff. In the weeks since Clinton locked up the nomination, all factions appear to be working harmoniously toward her election and toward the election of Ted Strickland, who is challenging Republican Sen. Rob Portman.
"Ohio Democrats state party, Clinton and Strickland campaigns are all singing from the same hymnal," Kirstin Alvanitakis, communications director for the Ohio Democratic Party, said Sunday in an email. "It's unclear if Ohio Republicans are even in the same church."

Yes, you're right, I went there to read about the Cavs, but then I found this news story, which I urge you to read in its entirety, as it'll put a smile on your face.

(1,786 posts)And I may be way off, I cant really be sure. But if there is a lack of activity, then that could mean that the RNC is not going out of their way to help Trump build one, and he doesn't seem to think he needs one. It seems almost suicidal.
Two years ago, I though it was going to be a boring primary, with Hillary facing Bush in the election. but it has been a really interesting season instead. I ran out of popcorn quite a while back. This development just assures us that the show will go on.

(11,841 posts)Hardly a scientific poll since the numbers arent that high, but it didnt bode well.
Most were of the "No more Bushes/Clintons" mindset
Youre right, who knows WHAT is going on with them now

To have the POTUS candidates campaign be completely non-existent is a MAJOR problem on down ticket campaigns.

(745 posts)He is still gathering a huge amount of votes. We had better hope he doesn't start spending (or finding) money for Ads and whatnot.
This gun stuff couldn't have come at a worse time because Trump can claim Obama and the D's are after their guns - and they will eat it up.

(1,619 posts)The Pugs come up with a way to dump Trump at their convention. This will help contribute to Cleveland 2016 becoming the bloodiest political confab since Chicago in 1968.

(11,841 posts)Trump has no grasp about how to campaign of how to govern. Its easy to win a primary when you tell everyone what they want to hear, but the general election is different. He's got to win over people & he's pushing them away.
And i think he's too arrogant to admit his "style" cant win a general

(14,561 posts)there actually is less steam behind that idea now than two months ago.
He got past a critical mass of actual votes, states won and more importantly delegates.
They talked a big game in April, but once he got past that critical mass, they have ducked their tails and run into a corner.
Being the impetuous jackasses they are, there will be elements that will do this "anyone but trump" thing, but there is not near the mass to this to "dump" him now.
Best we could see is some chaos on the delegate votes, but there is no one to coalesce around.

This article talks about how many people crossed over and voted on the cross party ballot which is allowed in Ohio. More registered Democrats requested and voted on Republican specific ballots than vice-versa. But the bigger issue I see is how many more Republicans came out to vote. This is a Kasich vs Trump state, but if anything like this turnout happens in November, we will get trounced in Ohio.
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted released statewide data this week revealing how many Ohioans switched political party affiliation in the most recent election. County data was also released.
Because Ohio has open primary elections, voters do not register with a political party, but are instead affiliated with a political party by casting a ballot in a partisan primary election. Voters can select any party ballot they choose during primary elections. Voters also have the option of remaining unaffiliated by casting an issues only ballot.
snip
Statewide, a total of 1,197,725 voters cast a ballot in the Democratic primary election, 34,867 of whom were previously affiliated with the Republican Party, representing just 2.9 percent of all Democratic ballots cast. In contrast, 1,952,684 voters cast ballots in the Republican Primary, 115,762 of whom were previously affiliated with the Democratic Party, representing 5.9 percent of the total Republican votes cast.

(178 posts)crossed over to vote against Trump -- apparently this was a widespread movement in Ohio. They aren't and will not be voting Republican in the fall.

(1,523 posts)in the Ohio Primary is troubling.
We seem to have a lot of people supporting the RW crazies in Rural SE Ohio. I have already seen several Trump signs, and a few anti-Obama signs. They do not even know why they hate Obama and "them liberals", they just do.
Even the cheapest Sat TV package includes Fox Nuze. And nearly every big AM station is RW hate radio that is not sports talk.
