EU referendum poll: The latest tracker and odds

Source: Telegraph UK

The June 23 EU referendum is upon us, and the polls suggest the result could still go either way.

As the country prepares for the crucial vote on its future in, or out, of the European Union, polls suggest the debate is neck-and-neck, and well within the margin of error.

Use the Telegraph's poll of polls tracker to see how the Remain and Leave campaigns have fared. Based on figures from What UK Thinks, it takes an average of the last six polls, and will be updated until poll day.

it is NOT a simple right v left issue and to call Brexit (as the OP did) Britain's Trump is asinine.

5. The Tories who support Brexit are from the 'Trump/tea party/UKIP' faction of the party.

Brexit supporters tend to be older, whiter and more conservative - make Great Britain Great Again - than the opponents.

Brexit is the UK's Trump.

See page 36 of this: https://www.ipsos-mori.com/Assets/Docs/Polls/pm-16-june-2016-tables.pdf

52% of 'leave' say "The number of immigrants coming into Britain" is a very important reason for their vote, compared with just 22% saying "Britain's ability to make its own laws". Another 14% say "Impact on public services/housing", and 10% "The cost of EU immigration on Britain's welfare system".

That's why it's Britain's Trump. He is, above all, about excluding people who aren't like him.

If you of all people call something asinine, it makes me think it's probably not.

But in a way you're right, since Trump is mostly a RW phenom, whereas Brexit has some regressive leftists in favor of it. The kind that hope the EU will be weakened so that certain other global players might benefit. Would that be your position?

But like the Trump phenomenon, it's mainly reactionary, xenophobic, foolhardy and self-defeating.

It's more complicated.

While there is certainly "Trump" element, Cameron himself has called UKIP "racists and nutters" there is very legitimate grievances with the EU. And that is the officials with the most power are appointed and not elected.

To take away from their argument the EU should reform the system to make the power positions democratically accountable.

I know you get it. But I am explaining the nuances to those who might not be familiar with the issue.
