Bipartisan gun measure survives test vote

Source: The Hill

A compromise bill to block suspected terrorists from buying guns overcame a test vote Thursday.

Senators voted 46-52 against tabling the bipartisan proposal spearheaded by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine). Tabling the proposal would have cast it aside.

“Let's not miss this opportunity to get something done,” Collins said from the Senate floor ahead of the vote. “This is common sense. It does not threaten to harm the Second Amendment rights of Americans.”

We can't let the pressure off just because we get this.

permission before they buy a gun or build a bomb. It's common sense. eh?

This seems more like a stage show, trying to make it look like lawmakers and their supporters are not a bunch of ineffective losers, to people whose standards are so low that anything looks like something. In reality, it's more like impotence, as if Congress is an Electile Dysfunction.

This won't stop people who are American citizens just out for hate, but it is a great opportunity for people to pat themselves on the back for being so bold between shootings.

If it was worth anything it would take the guns out of American citizens hands - the ones who are far more likely to shoot.

This is nothing more than a placebo.

is how we got the Patriot Act.

If Congress is interested in crafting good legislation, they will take the time to do so.
Otherwise they are just paying lip service to the problem in the hopes that you will stop complaining.
