Were talking about countries that are doing very well. Then yes, I would be absolutely prepared to tell those countries, Congratulations, you will be defending yourself, Trump said during an interview with The New York Times, adding that he would defend only countries that had fulfilled their obligations to us financially.
In an interview with the New York Times, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called Trump's comments a "rookie mistake."
....................
Two additional Senate Republicans, neither of whom is attending this weeks Republican National Convention, condemned his comments, suggesting Congress would not follow his lead on the issue if he is commander-in-chief.

(20,771 posts)Mental illness does not equate with evil.
It does not equate with stupid.
It does not equate with intolerance, bigotry, greed, or hate.
Mental illness is ILLNESS. It is a painful, chronic, challenge that millions cope with, courageously and determinedly.
Donald Trump may, or may not, have some kind of mental illness. But whether he does or not, that mental illness is not the "reason" he is a greedy, bigoted asshole.
Please THINK before buying into mean, small-minded stereotypes.
patiently,
Bright

(20,771 posts)It can be heartbreakingly easy to do.
Seeing it, owning it, help me avoid doing it again.
So, thank you for taking my comment in the spirit it was offered.
We can do better.
encouragingly,
