WBUR Poll: After Conventions, Clinton Up 15 Points Over Trump In New Hampshire
Source: WBUR
According to a new WBUR poll of New Hampshire voters, Hillary Clinton is enjoying a dramatic post-convention bump and now leads Donald Trump by 15 points. Our poll also shows Democrat Maggie Hassan with a big advantage in her bid to unseat Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte.
The last time we polled in New Hampshire, three months ago, the presidential contest was virtually tied. Our new poll (topline, crosstabs) of 609 likely New Hampshire voters, conducted July 29 through August 1, shows Clinton leading Trump 47 percent to 32 percent. When Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are omitted, Clinton's 15 point lead swells to 17 points.
Among the most important reasons Clinton has moved ahead so dramatically in this important swing state following last week's Democratic National Convention is that Democrats are uniting around her.
"After all the hand-wringing about whether Bernie Sanders supporters would end up supporting Hillary Clinton, she's now getting 86 percent of the Democratic vote," explained Steve Koczela, president of MassInc Polling, which conducted the WBUR survey. "Donald Trump, on the other hand, has slipped a bit among Republicans. He's now getting a bit less than two-thirds of the Republican vote."

Maggie Hassan up by 10 over the Kelly Ayotte, whose sucking up to Trump was rewarded by his refusal to endorse her.

(135,425 posts)She's got this one pathetic one that shows a few "seniors" speaking to the camera about how "Kelly" would "NEV-AH" do them wrong (like privatize SS, LOL) --it's in response to a Hassan ad that is fact - based -- and one lady just looks like she'd be right at home swinging a hatchet in anger at small children on her front porch--talk about an UNFRIENDLY face...and she gets the most airtime of the sad crew giving their endorsement.

(135,425 posts)I guess that Terminator Faced Senior with the hard weird eyes telling us how nice "Kelly" is doesn't compete with the "That asshole wanted to privatize medicare" ads Hassan is running! Hassan is also hitting hard on how she improved the NH business climate, with numbers and examples to back up her assertions, and that is a core constituency of many of the GOP up there (they've got a kind of "Me First" perspective). Ayotte is just mushy, and she always sounds like she's on the verge of tears--it's like she took voice lessons from Susan Collins...!
I saw that poll after I wrote this. I will be so glad to see Ayotte gone. For a long time she was McCain and Lindsay Graham's little token female sidekick - "Look here, republicans have women senators too!"
I know what you mean about the voice. She always sounds like she is terrified of speaking in public.
