Prosecutors in the Philippines are calling for the death penalty as punishment for a man said to be the ‘world’s worst paedophile’.

Peter Scully, a 53-year-old father-of-two, is accused of carrying out sexual abuse and torture on young children and filming it before selling it to other paedophiles around the world.

He appeared in a Philippine court on Tuesday charged with the first six of 75 charges.

3. Happens more often than you think in South East Asia

I've heard these kind of stories for years. White guys travelling there to abuse and take advantage of poor people who have no way out of the extreme poverty. And then there's guys who'll fuck around with the women and then abandon the kids there.

4. Same in Cambodia

I lived in Cambodia for a while and there is a similar thing there. Old men exploiting young women who are essentially sent out by their families to earn money in the sex industry. It's a really sad state of affairs.

Interestingly, its not just men who travel the world for sex tourism. Though the impact is a lot less with female tourists (no children involved).

If he's dead, he's dead. No suffering, no penitence, no nothing. Not even solace for his victims.

Stick him some place miserable and wish him a long life. The worst punishment I can imagine is for him to eventually realize what he did and have to live with it. Alone.

if the charges are even remotely true, I simply wouldn't care if they placed this monster in general population in prison. Justice still wouldn't be done. but it would be a good start.

death is too easy. Many of those who are put to death have their come to jesus moment and totally believe that they're heading for a place of peace with streets of gold when in fact they're only going to return to worm dirt like the rest of us when we die. In the mean time they escape the horrors of living with the atrocities they committed.

I'm against the death penalty and for the reason I stated.
