Jill Stein is going to protest outside the Clinton-Trump debate
Source: The Week
Green Party nominee Jill Stein was excluded from the presidential debates along with Libertarian Gary Johnson, but she is planning a protest to take place outside the building where the first debate will be held Monday evening. After the "Let Jill Debate" rally, both Stein and Johnson will live tweet their own remarks throughout the debate.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will spend the weekend prepping to take the stage. Clinton has reportedly spent a month honing her answers in practice debates, something the Trump campaign dismissed as the "hallmarks of a career politician who has spent too much time seeking and clinging to power."

I don't know if this is news of great national importance, or just a big national tear-jerker

Yes, I'm calling her an opportunist and not someone who truly believes in actually doing anything.

(20,185 posts)Whether it's her, Ben Carson or Trump, I simply don't understand these people wanting start at the top. Run for the House. Run for the Senate. Get some experience in how everything first. But they just go straight to running for the highest office in the land. At least Reagan had been a governor.
MADem
(135,425 posts)And your point about Reagan is valid--he was an asshole and an idiot, but he was governor of one of the largest ECONOMIES in the entire world, as well as a very complex and far reaching state government, more challenging than that of many nations. I won't pooh-pooh the challenges faced by Governor Brown so I really can't be two-faced about the same job when that jerk Ronnie held it. It WAS executive experience (though RR was a 'delegator' to the 9th degree...!!).
The reason people don't want to spend any time at the lower rungs of the ladder is because then they have a RECORD, and they're forced to either run on it, or run away from it.
One of the 'good' things about Trump is his motor-mouth. He won't fucking shut up, pardon my French. This habit of his, to bloviate any time there's a microphone or camera nearby, is beneficial because it has created for him his "record" in his own voice, and it's one he cannot deny.

(82 posts)The Greens need to sit with the Democrats and hammer out a deal. If the Greens threw in with the Democrats in exchange for some concessions, we might actually get the senate and house back. Stein is a fool if she thinks marching around like a clown makes her feel important. If she wants to feel important and Hillary wants a congress she can work with, they should meet and hammer out a deal. Could you imagine the republican heads that would explode!

(402 posts)Jill Stein does have some good ideas, but she only comes out of the woodwork every 4 years to run for President and we never hear from her any other time. Even if she won the Presidency, she wouldn't have any support from members of Congress since she has done nothing to build a base. If she were really serious about her proposals for change, she would try to run for a lesser political office and work her way up the ladder... maybe like Bernie Sanders did as an Independent. She just comes out every 4 years and steps into the limelight, spouts off for a while and then we don't hear from her until the next Presidential election. I can think of a lot better ways to show leadership then vandalizing contruction equipment.

Why do you think so many rightwingers donate to the Greens, and pay for Jill Stein's stupid fucking tv ads?
It's because the GOP knows that the only people weaker than them are the damn Greens.
One more time: Fuck Jill Stein and fuck the Greens. They're spoilers and fools who will lie down with wingnuts to gain "attention." They are a disordered bunch of lunatics who will never ever become a real party until they get some real leadership, not a millionaire pretending to be an everyman like Nader, or a millionaire-suburbanite who crawls out of her mansion every four years to make flaky pronouncements and snuggle up to Vladimir.
There are well-meaning people at the community level who call themselves Greens, but they do not have a party that actually supports them and they are deceived useful tools. The Green Party serves as a demotivator that the GOP props up with faux supporters and cold, hard cash every time they want to skim votes from their Democratic challengers.
