Shocking to see something like this in a place like Sweden. It appears the far right is expanding their influence in Europe. Scary and sad.

(111,412 posts)The Torygraph tends to err a little on the conspiratorial side.
The RT reporting was more clear and concluded with "This weeks unrest continues a series of numerous shootings, explosions and arsons that have occurred since the beginning of the year in Malmo, infamous for high crime rates, multi-ethnic and gang-related violence."
There have been other explosions in the city this week, most of them grenade attacks.

(1,832 posts)... because we all know that. At DU, I expect to get biased information. At RT I am watching out for another kind of tendency. And so on, there is no such thing as "neutral" news. But it would be stupid to deny news by the sole reason, that they appeared on Fox, on RT or CNN. Neither do I care what channel is shoving an interview with Clinton or Trump - I always mostly listen to their words, and makes my own judgement.
Back to topic: The crime wave in western Sweden is mostly just crime, but the very not Scandinavian like heavy use of bombs and guns in the city of Malmö is also spreading into politics. The recent ones has not been political though.

RT is actually controlled by the Russian government, though.

(111,412 posts)the Baltic states, the Balkans, or any of the former SSRs bordering the Black Sea. I take most of their stories about the US with a pound of salt. However, their reporting on a variety of subjects is often stellar, as is much of their unedited video without commentary.
I view Al Jazeera much the same way. If I want puff pieces on Israel, I go elsewhere. Their reporting in other areas is great.

Someone in an Audi started shooting up a neighborhood and then some OTHER guys with guns gave chase?
And then a bomb went off in some other neighborhood?
Do I have the basic facts right?

(54,476 posts)Sounds more like organized crime wars, something that has plaguing Sweden for years. They are awash in organized crime gangs from the Baltic states, the Balkans and Russia. Their famous "tolerance" turned a blind eye to the nature of the people from these countries they were letting in as "refugees," when it was obvious they were no such thing. This has been an issue for many years before refugees from the Middle East were even a subject for discussion.
