Trump Wants Credit For Not Bringing Up Bill Clinton's Sex Scandals In Debate
Source: Talking Points Memo
Donald Trump claimed he stopped himself from saying something that he described as "rough" during Monday night's debate, which, judging from comments from him post-debate, were linked to former President Bill Clinton's sex scandals.
During a debate question about comments Trump has made about women, Trump began defending himself, and confessed to the audience that he had begun to say something "extremely rough" about the Clintons and then stopped himself.
"You want to know the truth, I was going to say something extremely rough to Hillary, to her family and I said to myself, I can't do it," Trump said. "I just can't do it."
While many speculated on what that could mean, Trump seemed to drop another breadcrumb, during an interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity after the debate, saying that he was going to bring up "what's been going on in their life" but stopped himself because of respect for Chelsea Clinton, who was in the room.

(10,252 posts)Everyone knows to what he was referring. I'll bet HRC had a few bon mots for him if he did bring it up. But now that Trump has claimed to be ever so gentlemanly, he's painted himself into a corner. Because if he does bring it up in the next debates (assuming he even shows up for them), he'll look like a cad, which he is anyway. I'm just sure that HRC has such a comment totally covered. Maybe something like, "It's beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate to negatively comment on an opponent's family, and I'm certainly not going to comment on your children or any of you 3 marriages." That should do it, don't you think?

Bill Clinton is NOT running for President, Hillary Clinton is. AND.........Donald Trump is also running for President. I think he didn't bring it up because Hillary was ready to pounce on all the claims against him.

No one cares, the world has moved on to more earth shattering events,
like the GOP not protecting us and preventing 9/11. That's still relevant.

(9,350 posts)First, what do Bill Clinton's affairs have to do with Hillary Clinton? Hillary Clinton is running for President not Bill Clinton. It makes no sense to bring up a woman's husband's affairs as a way to attack her candidacy.
Second, Donald Trump did not bring up Bill Clinton's sex life because he knew that would open the door for Hillary Clinton to bring up his sex life. Trump has been married three times and cheated on both of his previous wives. With his second wife, Marla Maples, he was separated from her, but still married while dating other women. He met Melania at a party he had gone to with another woman. Upon seeing Melania he pretty much so dumped the other woman and asked Melania for her phone number. He then started dating Melania while still married to Marla Maples.
Bringing up Bill Clinton's affairs would have been one of the worst things Donald Trump could have done. Even if Hillary Clinton did not bring up Donald Trump's past just about everyone else would have brought it up.

(4,033 posts)that if a man cheats on his wife, it is the wife's fault. I'm not making this up, he has said this. So, he can blame Hillary for Bill's affairs. So it is Ivanka's fault for Marla and Marla's fault for Mealiana. So, bringing up Bill's affairs is a slap at Hillary.

(50,546 posts)During Prohibition, the Napa Valley vintners came up with an ingenious workaround. The Volstead Act allowed companies to make Temperance Beverages such as grape juice, so the wine manufacturers invented a cube of compressed, dehydrated grape juice they called the Wine Brick. On the side was a very stern warning: Do not dissolve this Wine Brick in a gallon of water, add a packet of yeast and allow to sit in a cool, dark place for 21 days, or an illegal alcoholic beverage will be produced. Which, as you may have guessed, is the reason someone would buy something that would allow you to make a gallon of "Riesling" or "Chardonnay" grape juice.
"Oh no," said Mafia Don, "I couldn't possibly have brought myself to talk about how Hillary's husband (insert long story about interns and cigars) right in the Oval Office because his daughter's delicate ears might have fallen off."
And Hillary was ready for him to do that shit, because Mafia Don has a LONG history of adultery and she would have hit him right in the pudgy face with it.
