Baylor University faces U.S. probe over response to sex assaults

Source: Reuters

The U.S. Department of Education has launched an investigation into Baylor University's response to sexual violence on campus, acting on a complaint filed by the school's former administrator responsible for looking into sexual assault complaints.

Baylor, the world's largest Baptist university, has been rocked by a scandal over whether it failed to do enough to prevent and investigate sexual assaults against women by football players and others that led to the ouster of the school's president and its football coach.

The federal investigation was disclosed by the Department of Education and by the lawyer representing Patty Crawford, who resigned this month as Baylor's Title IX coordinator and accused the university of retaliating against her for being too forceful in looking into sexual assault claims. Baylor is located in Waco in central Texas.

Title IX is a section of a U.S. education law that protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance.

Spend $40M or so to investigate Ken Starr* for a change.

*The difference in this case, of course, is that it's pretty clear that wrongdoing occurred, unlike the GOP circus that hounded Clinton through the 90s.

A federal judge in the Reagan administration and the solicitor general under President George Bush, Mr. Starr was named independent counsel in 1994, taking over the investigation of the Whitewater real estate venture and the suicide of Vincent W. Foster Jr., a deputy White House counsel. He expanded the investigation to include the Paula Jones lawsuit and the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

Mr. Starr’s conclusion that Mr. Clinton had committed perjury in sworn testimony denying having had “sexual relations” with Ms. Lewinsky eventually led to Mr. Clinton’s impeachment.

Mr. Starr now is contending with criticism of his own leadership over Baylor’s handling of sexual assault charges leveled against several of its football players.

Baylor's football team should be put on suspension and examined as to whether they should count the wins in the past up until this entire season and even future seasons. Women's Lives Matter!
