Over 800 post-election hate incidents in the U.S., civil rights group says

Source: Associated Press

Published Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 12:30PM EST

Civil rights groups say President-elect Donald Trump should forcefully and publicly denounce racism and bigotry. They are pointing to more than 860 bias-related incidents recorded in the 10 days following his Nov. 8 victory.

The Southern Poverty Law Center says it collected 867 hate-related incidents on its website and through the media in that time period. Anti-immigrant and anti-black hate incidents made up the largest number of claims. The group said it has not independently verified each claim but said it has weeded out any reported hoaxes.

The group said in a survey teachers said they knew of more than 2,500 fights, threats and other incidents related to election rhetoric.

The groups called for Trump to publicly denounce violence and hate speech and enforce his promise to protect all Americans.

that there are countless other incidents that never get reported. I'm sure this is happening on a regular basis all over the country. Hopefully it will not become the new normal.

(CNN) In the days following Donald Trump's presidential victory, students in Kansas chanted, "Trump won, you're going back to Mexico," to students from other countries, according to a high school teacher in a suburban community within the state.

In Oregon, a high school teacher photographed vandalism in the boys' bathroom, which mentioned the KKK and used the n-word.

In Tennessee, a black student was blocked from entering his classroom by two white students chanting, "Trump, Trump," according to a high school teacher at the school where this happened.

And, in Georgia, a 12-year-old white male student saw an "X" on another white student's paper and proceeded to draw a swastika on his paper, according to a middle school teacher at the school. "And our administration is telling us not to talk about it," the teacher said.

but they are just children.

Well, I'll use the same logic in a sarcastic way. They are just children. They aren't responsible for their actions at all.

Seems some minorities aren't "real" minorities worthy of their "righteous indignation."

3. Ten Days After: Harassment and Intimidation in the Aftermath of the Election
Tue Nov 29, 2016, 04:19 PM
Nov 2016

Just a week before the November 8th election, attackers set a church in Greenville, Mississippi, on fire. The historically black church was targeted in what authorities believe was an act of voter intimidation, its walls spray-painted with the phrase “Vote Trump.”

“This kind of attack happened in the 1950s and 1960s,” Greenville’s mayor said, “but it shouldn’t happen in 2016.”

<snip>

Of course, hate crimes and lower-level incidents of racial or ethnically charged harassment have long been common in the United States. But the targets of post-election hate incidents report that they are experiencing something quite new.

“I have experienced discrimination in my life, but never in such a public and unashamed manner,” an Asian-American woman reported after a man told her to “go home” as she left an Oakland train station. Likewise, a black resident whose apartment was vandalized with the phrase “911 nigger” reported that he had “never witnessed anything like this.” A Los Angeles woman, who encountered a man who told her he was “Gonna beat [her] pussy,” stated that she was in this neighborhood “all the time and never experienced this type of language before.” Not far away in Sunnyvale, California, a transgender person reported being targeted with homophobic slurs at a bar where “I’ve been a regular customer for 3 years — never had any issues.”

Nothing says America like having a school bus go past your home and hear some shouting kid yell nigger at a person walking to the neighborhood store.

...and I asked him what he thought of all of the hate incidents in his name. I included a screenshot of parts
of this article.

He needs to be confronted about this. He knows damn well that his supporters do this stuff, what he said
on 60 Minutes was a lie. He knows he is appealing to violent racists.
