Twitter video shows North Carolina officer slamming student

Source: Associated Press

Updated 3:26 pm, Tuesday, January 3, 2017

ROLESVILLE, N.C. (AP) — School and police authorities are reviewing a video posted on Twitter that shows a male police officer slamming a female high school student to the floor in North Carolina.

Wake County schools spokeswoman Lisa Luten says she's working with the Rolesville Police Department to get more details.

The eight-second video posted Tuesday shows an officer, surrounded by shouting students at Rolesville High School, lifting and then dropping the girl to the floor on her left side, then pulling her to her feet and leading her away.

The video itself doesn't show what led up to or followed this scene.

(which since the article does not mention that she did I shall assume she didnt) then it looks like grossly excessive force.

North Carolina officer caught on video slamming female student to ground

Footage shows school resource officer picking up young woman and throwing her to the floor, leading to a thud and shouts from nearby students

A North Carolina police officer was caught on video lifting a high school student into the air and slamming her to the ground, prompting widespread outrage and calls for the policeman to be fired.

The footage, which went viral on Twitter on Tuesday, showed a school resource officer in the middle of a chaotic scene at Rolesville high school picking up the young woman and throwing her to the floor, leading to a thud and shouts from nearby students.

Police and school officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday night, but the local paper, the News and Observer, identified the officer as Ruben De Los Santos and reported that he was on paid administrative leave.

The video draws parallels to viral footage of a South Carolina sheriff’s deputy who was caught on camera last year wrapping his arm around a student’s neck in a classroom at Spring Valley high school. That officer, Ben Fields, flipped the student’s desk and dragged the girl across the floor before arresting her. He was eventually fired.

Sadly I fear this will be the "norm" rather the opposite Judi.. It seen to be the norm when law enforcement is in the US is involved in anything it looks like.. Something is rotten in the United States.. And I suspect to many law-enforcement is very much part of it. 2016 have been a very bloody year, when it comes to law-enforcement in the United States...

It doesn't look as if we will be able to see things becoming more civilized until after the damage we can expect from having a racist idiot as the next U.S. President.

We have needed to take a giant step forward for decades, and we have been going backward, instead.

It does not look to well that is true - and I fear also that it might end in a major war in the next 18 to 24 mounts for the US, that be in Europe - specially in east-europe who have a long and troubled relationship with Russia - but I think that might be cooled down to more of a stand off, and where diplomacy will work overtime a long time to keep the peace.. But I fear more that a conflict in the south east asia than in Europe - mostly because Trump have been acting in a way who all ready have "Pissed off" China, or PRC if one want to be technically about it - as ROC or Taiwan have been seen as a part of China, the country have just not been under the same control as Beijing for the last 60 years... And Trump have indeed messed up diplomacy, even before he is sworn in.. He made diplomats seated in Washington DC ask for advises from he Obama administration, because they could not get their heads around the fact he was a viable candidate for the presidency - and that have been a untold "no-go" zone for a century not to ask any government on this subject - at least not leak it is to the media.... As some did...

And I fear Trump will be a "Loose cannon" who could hurt the US more than it benefited the country in the short run at least.. He sounds, and act in a way who is far to brazen and to ignorant of what it means to be a president of a major country...

like this, the first thing that should happen is the officer should be compelled to take a drug test.
Including steroids.
