Bill would let woman sue doctors who perform their abortions
Barbara Rodriguez, Associated Press Updated 4:53 pm, Tuesday, January 17, 2017

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Iowa lawmakers are considering a bill that would allow a woman who gets an abortion to sue the doctor who performed the procedure if she experiences emotional distress later.

If approved, it would be the first law of its kind in the U.S.

The proposal would permit the woman to file a lawsuit at any point in her life, something that would go against typical statute of limitation rules. It could also make the state vulnerable to costly court challenges.

Sen. Mark Chelgren is the Republican who introduced the bill. He says the measure is about holding doctors and clinics accountable.

that fails or gives them quintuplets?

Because if they tacked those onto the bill, it would NEVER pass.

"emotional distress" will be a gold mine for consulting psychiatrists

Who's the most believed consultant? Jungian Psychiatrist from LA?
Or Freudian from Manhattan?

Totally inconsistent and unprovable concept. Good. Luck.

How about a law that allows us to sue "lawmakers" for emotional distress? Every woman in Iowa could make millions taking Asshat Chelgren to the cleaners.

...where women are fragile emotional flowers, incapable of making our own, well considered, decisions We should also be able to sue the guy who contributed to the unwanted pregnancy in the first place. I'm starting a business, sex liability insurance for men. Hedging against the $200,000 plus cost of raising a child to 18. If the guys can't afford the premiums, they'll just have to do without. Bet there'd be be some kind of national, freely available, subsidized, insurance then .
