Trump wrote inauguration speech himself
Source: CNN
President-elect Donald Trump has written his inauguration address draft himself, two senior Trump transition officials told CNN Tuesday.
Last month, Trump told guests at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, as well as presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, that he planned to write the speech himself.
On Wednesday, Trump on social media shared an image of him writing what he said was his inaugural address at the estate last month.

(82,333 posts)I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you've bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors.
I thank President Obama for his service to our nation -- as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.
Forty-five Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we, the people, have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears and true to our founding documents.
So it has been; so it must be with this generation of Americans.

Сорок пять американцев теперь взяли президентскую присягу. Эти слова были произнесены во время приливов процветания и спокойных водах мира. (28,787 posts)i'll believe it when i hear it. if it isn't all about donald and how everyone loves him except his enemies etc and all about him and only him, i'll know someone else wrote it.
ha. the way melania wrote her convention speech no doubt.
ETA: i actually will probably never hear it, since i'll be on my way to DC for the march the next day and would not voluntarily watch it even if there was not one other thing to watch and all i felt like doing was watching tv. but i will know by DU's reports and the news what he says. Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, etc. i'll know.

(81,220 posts)Poor thing had to write his own speech himself. Hope there are alert watchdogs looking and listening for plagiarism. After all, it runs in the family (Melania), and among friends (Monica Crowley). Or maybe he had another Tony Schwartz step in and ghost-write it for him, so he can stick his name on it and claim he wrote it all himself?

(12,647 posts)WTF is up with all that tile work behind him? This picture is all out of proportion, the back of the tile chair - or is it a fountain feature? (it's built into the wall!) - is too close to the table for someone to actually be sitting at the table comfortably. The desk is too high for the person "sitting" at it.
The picture also needs to be cropped along the sides - the desk has become the prominent feature, and the photographer either should have gotten rid of the eagle or moved it closer to the note pad.
Looks like someone plopped a Kodachrome of a 1930's bank manager's desk along the back wall of a 19th century Turkish seraglio - or maybe a bathhouse - and photoshopped a head and tie over the original person who would have been seated in the photo.
Really - a tile throne that looks as if it were built into a wall? With a Limoges clock or vase cresting it? How is this professional looking to any person who considers himself (or herself) to be a serious international business person?
Heck, even Sepp Blatter wouldn't allow himself to be officially photographed like this.

(23,091 posts)can't figure out computers, has to write the speech by hand. OMG! I'm so glad I'm boycotting the Inauguration and his speech. You know it will be full of 3 and 4 letter words, and 3-4 word sentences. He's not smart enough or focused enough to write a regular speech that showcases his "lofty" (ha!) goals and expectations and brings us all together. No, his will be a divisive, small minded, vengeful, hate filled speech, reflecting the writer in all his tawdry, hating, racist, misogynist, traitorous, criminal worst. The only good things he will say are about himself and "the majority" (lie) of Americans who are so happy with his election. Only question I have is will be fawn all over Russia, regardless of how inappropriate that would be or did Putin tell him to save it. That his worship of him needs to be shown in agreed to actions (destroy NATO and EU) not an initial speech.
