White House Admits We Were All Duped, Judge Hardiman Never Went to D.C.

Source: LawNewz

by Ronn Blitzer 10:09 am, February 1st, 2017

On Tuesday, the country awaited President Donald Trumps announcement of his nomination for the U.S. Supreme Court. Rumors had been that Trump had narrowed the field down to two judges: Thomas Hardiman and Neil Gorsuch. While Trump ended up picking Gorsuch, the rumors of the final two, plus Trumps nationally televised prime-time announcement reminded news followers of the anticipation for the finale of an [link:http://lawnewz.com/high-profile/trump_scotus_announcement/Apprentice-style reality show]. Reports that [link:http://lawnewz.com/high-profile/report-trump-bringing-supreme-court-finalists-to-d-c-before-tonights-announcement/both judges were being called to Washington, D.C.] for the event only heightened that feeling.

Turns out that last part may not have actually been true, but the White House sure fueled the fires behind the rumor. Sources at the White House [link:http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/31/politics/gorsuch-supreme-court-hardiman/acknowledged to CNN] that they let the media believe that Hardiman was on his way from Pennsylvania for the big event. But Press Secretary Sean Spicer admitted after Tuesday nights announcement that Hardiman never was in DC, nor did he ever leave the commonwealth. Hardiman himself played coy when spotted driving east from Pittsburgh.

What was the point of all this? A Supreme Court nomination isnt big enough news? Why add artificial drama to make a judicial appointment seem like a reality competition? Well, one person close to the situation gave some insight to CNN about our Commander in Chief.

He likes a contest.

Either Trump Was Lying or He Just Purposely Used Judge Thomas Hardiman

by Rachel Stockman | 9:58 pm, January 31st, 2017

I kind of feel bad for Judge Thomas Hardiman, who apparently got used by the President, and was paraded out to Washington D.C. (or at least made to look like he was) only so Trump could reveal to the public that he didn’t get the rose after all. In a rather unprecedented move, Trump reportedly summoned both Neil Gorsuch and Thomas Hardiman to the Capitol on Tuesday in anticipation of his Supreme Court announcement. A CNN crew even caught up with Judge Hardiman in Bedford, Pennsylvania as he stopped for gas “just hours” before the big announcement. “Are you the potential Supreme Court pick?” the producer yelled as Hardiman put his hands over the the camera.

To create even more suspense, the White House sent out two packets of briefing materials to Senators with biographical information about both Hardiman and Gorsuch. However, when Trump made his big announcement this evening, he didn’t have both men by his side. No rose. Instead, Trump gave a brief introduction and Neil Gorsuch made his way to the podium. What is particularly maddening about all of this is that Hardiman apparently was a pawn in Trump’s little media scheme to deflect coverage from the other scandals of the week. Either that or Trump was just flat out lying. Here’s why I say that.

The canned talking point about the protesters, "how could they be protesting with pre-made signs before they even know who it is." Never mind everyone seemed to know who it was all day but this silliness was now obviously an attempt to discredit protests. Wow. Ingenious.

Nope. So it did not really matter if the guy was in DC or not. I did not watch the announcement. There was no need to.

It's safe to assume that Trump's default nature is to lie about everything.
