Fake Sweden expert on Fox News has criminal convictions in US, no connection to Swedish security

Source: DN

President Trump's statements about Sweden, based on a report on his favourite TV-channel Fox News, continue to drive the debate about the country in the United States. Sweden is portrayed as a nation plagued by crime and rape, in large part due to immigration.

Friday the question was the focus of debate during the conservative Fox-presenter Bill O’Reillys show, where Nils Bildt confirmed Donald Trumps negative view of Sweden. Nils Bildt was introduced by Fox as a ”Swedish defense and national security advisor”, which has caused more than a few raised eyebrows.

Marie Pisäter at the Swedish Defense Ministry says that no-one called Nils Bildt works there. ”We have no spokesman by that name”, she said. The Foreign Office also denies that he works there. ”We do not know who he is.”

Nils Bildt is the son of Sven Tolling, well know in Swedish equestrian circles. Nils Bildt emigrated from Sweden in 1994. Nine years later he changed his last name from Tolling to Bildt, and he now runs several security companies in the United States. His last known address, according to Swedish registers, is in Tokyo. It is unclear if his companies are still in business.

The article in this Stockholm newspaper goes on to quote an email from Nils Bildt to the paper saying that he had no choice in how Fox News described him: "I appeared on Bill O'Reillys's show on Fox News. The title was chosen by Fox News's editor – I had no personal control over what title they chose."

Probably out of admiration for Carl Bildt, former Swedish Prime Minister who narrowly won the 1991 election on the heels of the most racist campaign in the country's history up to then - only to be swept out in 1994 after his supply-side policies helped lead to the most severe recession in Sweden since the Great Depression.

12. Private Security

About 8 or 9 years ago the US private security company Pinkerton (est 1850) was bought by Securitas (Swedish) in 1999. Then as is now, all DOD contractors must hire a US owned private security force that is required to report any DOD security violations and are tested yearly for compliance of all DOD and NISPOM related security requirements. Pinkerton was, until Securitas acquired it, a very progressive company that treated it's mostly non union employees very well in a business where the public perception was the opposite then. Now as back then, US owned private security forces monitor DOD contractors as required by law.
(rant mode on) Many here disparage private security officers and sometimes with good reason. Images and jokes about private security are, IMO just hyperbolic reactions to anecdotal claims of the often falsely perceived notion that incompetence plagues the business. My experience is vastly different because I obviously work in the industry and know a bit about it. Being a Democrat in the business I'm a rarity and I have to deal with such right wing the BS that maybe only LEA Dems have to suffer more of. I, along with the rest of my team, regardless of who is in the Whitehouse and who they voted for to be there, will continue to enforce and report any and all company and DOD security violations to the company management and the DOD. (rant mode off).

If the present administration rescinds those contractual rules and laws in an effort to make the DOD 'more efficient' there would be unprecedented violations of present best practices to safeguard our nations most sensitive military and security secrets.

I(s Sven Tied to Securitas and their effort to hold onto those DOD contracts that Securitas bought when they acquired Pinkerton and their attempt to sidestepping the law to keep those DOD contracts intact is something that should be looked into IMO.

... changed in 2005 and are more lose in definitions than most other countries, making it meaningless to compare statistics. Also Denmark just had a similar artificial spike in rape reports, since the way they now are collected in a different way. In both countries this is done to get more precise numbers, but the resulting spikes in international oversights is mostly statistical weirdness. Police and researchers know this, but Trump and others with a specific agenda omits this knowledge.

The term "expert" in itself is meaningless. The news also abuses the term "advisor" - there's absolutely no meaning behind these titles.

The opinion shows do this all of time, and it's purposely dishonest. They bring in an "expert" and "advisor" who is just talking out of their arse, but agrees with the host. Therefore, the host can pass frauds off as the ultimate and final authority in a subject, thus confirming their own statements and opinions.

I guess most people know that Ailes was the one who built the Fox News into what it is today - a steaming lying sack of shit network with nothing but fake news.

Ailes is no longer with the network since he got his golden parachute about a year ago. However I'm sure he's been planning something with the head-Cheeto such as a new lying sack of shit network with Trump's name on it. That was in the works even before he won the election. I wouldn't be surprised to find out if maybe Trump has stock or part ownership in Fox News.

There's usually an express pipeline for fake terrorism experts that appear on Fox News being fast tracked into the Trump White House. Best example...notorious crackpot SEBASTIAN GORKA.

they're taking advantage of that fact by directing it directly at Trump. It seems as if when a fake news item has gotten into Trump's head, it stays there.

This is a bit scary, actually...
