Fired U.S. Attorney Was Probing if Fox News Illegally Obtained Journalists’ Phone Records, Report Says

by Rachel Stockman 10:57 pm, March 12th, 2017

Former U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who was fired by Attorney General Jeff Sessions after he refused to resign, was probing whether Fox News executives illegally obtained reporters phone records, and committed fraud by hiding financial payments to some women who accused former CEO Roger Ailes of sexual harassment, according to a report by New York Magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman. Sherman [link:http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/03/winner-in-trumps-decision-to-fire-bharara-might-be-murdoch.htmlreports], Sources told me that that prosecutors have been offering witnesses immunity to testify before a federal grand jury thats already been impaneled.

Last month, an attorney for former Fox News personality Andrea Tantaros said in court, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, that his client had gotten a subpoena from the U.S. Attorneys office.

President Donald Trump reportedly told Bharara earlier this year that he would be kept on during the new administration. But, something sparked a change of course late last week. Attorney General Jeff Sessions sent out a letter Friday asking for the resignations of Bharara and 45 other Obama-era U.S. Attorneys who were still in place.

The New York Times reports that Marc Mukasey, the son of former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, is being considered to replace Bharara as U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. As Sherman notes, Mukasey also happens to be Ailess personal lawyer.

Fired U.S. Attorneys Coy Tweet Sparks Suspicion That He Was Investigating Trump

by Alberto Luperon 4:49 pm, March 12th, 2017

On Friday, former US Attorney Preet Bharara got told he had to resign despite initial promises he could stay. On Saturday, he got fired. On Sunday, he tweeted this:

Its his first post after he was fired as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. And while theres no confirmation about what precisely he meant, people seem to think he was investigating the administration of President Donald Trump. Its not random Twitter eggs either. Hes caught the attention of people from organizations like the NY Post, POLITICO, and the ACLU.

Indeed! We've seen Russia and Turkey already in there, thanks to the mendacious conniving Michael Flynn. Wonder who's next?

I guess we'd need trump's tax returns to get a better idea about that one.

When life gets tough for the deplorables due to Trump, we need to say, "I told you so!" at every possible opportunity.

With the ones I know, I can't wait.

President. People have many things to blackmail him with. The Russians, apparently Roger Ailes, etc. He's basically been installed into the White House so he can do all of his blackmailers dirty work while he makes a pretty penny off of his ill-gotten position.

refused the call, given that as a US Attorney, he is not allowed to converse with anyone under investigation.

That alone would be enough for Drumpf to fire him -- NOBODY refuses a call from the Great One!
