More people fill out NCAA brackets than actually vote

Source: Fox Sports

Here’s one thing millions of Americans can agree on: March Madness is fun, especially when there’s a little money on the line.

So fun, in fact, that more people will fill out NCAA Tournament brackets this week than voted for either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton in last year’s presidential election.

They don't have to take off work early, or leave mid-day, or even ask for the time off. They don't have to stand in long lines and show 87 forms of identification. They don't have to waste time at the DMV getting said identification at a cost.

Makes sense to me

postage should be free for ballots and tax returns.

I refused, so I burned half a gallon of gasoline to drop off the ballots at the city clerk's office. That'll show'em.

Now, they can mail crap to us for free - it should be the other way around.

I agree - it should be free to mail ballots and tax returns.

Filled out plenty of brackets, de rigueur since I went to college in the state of NC and I'm a fervent Duke fan.

Couldn't vote until I became a US citizen in September 2016. While this is a sad stat, keep in mind that non-citizens and those below voting age can fill brackets but can't vote. You can also fill unlimited numbers of brackets.

Approximately 70 million brackets will be filled out. But many people fill out more than one bracket, so the actual number of people filling out brackets is probably around 50 million. And that includes some number of people who are ineligible to vote.

Meanwhile, around 130 million people cast ballots in the 2016 election.

The number of voting age individuals filling out brackets is almost certainly less than the 60 million people plus people that voted for trump or the even larger number that voted for Clinton.

something FOX does well. Fake news. Fake sports. Demoralization.

I have to say I have never filled one out. I used to be a sports fanatic when I was a kid (the San Francisco Giants baseball team, to be exact) but I shook it off in high school.

People might actually start believing what's in those "stories." Ignoring things like people filling out multiple NCAA brackets.
