Justice Department asks for more time after Trump fails to provide wiretap evidence

Source: Reuters

13 MAR 2017 AT 18:46 ET

The Department of Justice said on Monday it had requested more time to respond to a request from lawmakers on the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee for evidence about President Donald Trump’s allegation that then-President Barack Obama wiretapped him.

The department requested “additional time to review the request in compliance with the governing legal authorities and to determine what if any responsive documents may exist,” a spokeswoman said in a statement.

Trump provided no evidence when, earlier this month, he accused Obama of wiretapping him during the 2016 election campaign. A spokesman for the former president said the charge was “simply false.”

They could simply say that they know of no evidence that suggests in any way that President Obama wire tapped anyone in trump tower.

Proving that something happened that didn't actually happen.

I suppose that's not typically what is meant by 'proving a negative', still it's gonna be a challenge for them.

We are in deep shit, because it is up to the guilty to decide whether or not to investigate themselves. This is how a coup works.

Damn it - NO! Nine days is long enough to substantiate a fact - if it is a fact. This tells us more about the incompetence of this administration than we need to know. The President, his spokesliars, and his Justice Department are completely over their heads and more time won't change that.v

THAT, IMO, is the reason for this in the first place. There's no evidence, that doesn't matter to 45*. It just provides more of a smoke screen.

Wait and wait. Then tell the media that the American public just isn't that interested. If they can delay this for a few weeks longer, then something new will come along to divert attention away from this act of libel.

"In CASH AND CARRY, teams must transport 10 years of Donald Trump's tax returns to the White House Press Room. Because of all his unrevealed business deals and bankruptcies, the returns will be heavy but a team that works together may be able to complete the task quickly."

"In TAP DANCING, teams must search the Oval Office for evidence of wire-tapping. It's a less grueling task, but since the evidence doesn't exist, it could take teams a long time..."

...does not mean wiretapping, then under that new definition, which could include using a microwave, will try to come back and show that President Obama did indeed use a microwave, which is the same as wiretapping?
