A new federal lawsuit claims President Donald Trumps federal financial disclosure forms may not have identified his actual personal debts.
From the complaint, filed Tuesday in a Washington D.C. federal court:
Health law finance attorney Jeffrey Lovitky is suing pro se, so hes acting as his own lawyer here. He claims POTUS is grating against the Ethics in Government Act, but he actually doesnt allege any wrongdoing here. He says he just wants more information for the sake of transparency. POLITICO, who broke the story, managed to get any interview with him.

(66,359 posts)If it achieves nothing else, I'm hoping it will at least cause Trump to spend the next several years finding out what it feels like to keep hearing: "No, let us see the real documents!"

(13,597 posts)For all we know, the "under audit" claim is another lie. But anyone can make their tax returns public at any time regardless of whether they're being audited or not.

(34,452 posts)Return and audit status private and IRS can't say anything. You can release your own tax returns or lie about the audit status. But their hands are tied.
It's like your grades in school--you can lie and tell people your grade average was x.x, but the school can't release your transcripts.

(5 posts)Hell they said that during the primaries, but everyone in the media seems to have ignored that and didn't do any follow-up research into his taxes personal or otherwise.
Last I checked corporate taxes are a matter of public record are they not or are drumpf industries still all private?
Even so how hard would it actually be to get one of his screwed over accountants to turn over on him?

It was hardly a claim that Obama on his own elected the president.

Yeah, there's that whole "preterite vs past participle" confusion thing that's been going on in English for the last, what is it, about 800, 900 years?
