House intelligence panel chairman says there was no wiretap on Trump Tower

Source: Reuters

The chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee flatly denied on Monday that there had been a wiretap on President Donald Trump's Trump Tower in New York, but said it was possible other surveillance was used against Trump.

"Let me be clear: We know there was not a wiretap on Trump Tower. However, it's still possible that other surveillance activities were used against President Trump and his associates," Republican Representative Devin Nunes said in his opening statement at a hearing on Russia's involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Nunes said "numerous" current and former U.S. officials had leaked potentially classified information, and that his committee intended to identify them to bring them to justice.

I mean it's pretty apparent it's all just a lie, trying to pretend that Trump didn't just simply see a fake news article and parrot it like the simpleton that he is.

Why is there no talk of the consequences for all of this horrific waste?

(I suppose in light of all the other crimes going on it may be the least of our worries but nonetheless)

There seems to be only one rule, that nobody who actually needs help can benefit from public expenditures. Squandering public money on public theater is fine. Florida weekends are fine. Taking salaries for 8 years while refusing to do their jobs is fine. They want grand theater -- hearings, military parades.

not by partisan statements. But by clear, unequivocal repeated statements that there is no information whatsoever to support Trump's tweets, including the ridiculous we got Britain to do it meme.

They've also made clear there is no evidence their agencies (the NSA and the FBI and the DOJ) were even ASKED to wiretap Trump. And to do so would have been illegal. It takes all three depts to authorize wiretapping on a citizen, including a court to approve it.

It's against international law to get another country to do wiretapping for you.

NO PRESIDENT can wiretap anyone. It takes all three agencies and is a rigorous procedure requiring probable cause.

But it IS true that RUSSIA DID IN FACT INTERFERE WITH THE ELECTION through cyberhacking the Democrats, and there is an ongoing investigation about communications between Russia and the Trump team, and that intelligence agencies will go WHEREVER their investigation leads.
