..............
On Tuesday, Trump traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with a number of House Republicans who are reluctant to pass a Republican health care bill that has been championed by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).
According to CNN, Trump began his meeting with Republicans by congratulating himself for the crowd size at a Monday night rally in Louisville, Kentucky. The president warned that the value of his earned media would be diminished if the health care bill fails.
We wont have these crowds if we dont get this done, he reportedly complained. I honestly think many of you will lose your seats in 2018 if you dont get this done.
.......................
The president reportedly left the meeting without taking questions.

I imagine most were not pleased with being lectured to and then Trump not taking any questions. Coward!

(31,109 posts)the worst human beings to live in history.
Hitler...Mussolini...Stalin...and a few others and on the first page of the worst of all time among others will be Trump.
You can argue that the worst ISIS killer is better in that at least that killer's killing and harm is based in a belief in something other than his or herself. And yes, I hate the ISIS killer just as much as I hate a businessman who knowingly harms others the way this guy does.
Trump will cause or try to cause massive human suffering and will do so purely to feed his ego.
Millions could die in front of him and he would not have a reaction, sociopaths dont.

(43,146 posts)The only thing they could do to improve health care would, ceteris parabis,
be to lower the cost of Obamacare and cover more people. I know ordinary
working class Republicans who complained bitterly how their premiums rose.
THAT is the sticking point. Money, cost. Reducing benefits and kicking
people off, even if it's not your own family, is no solution because next round
of cost cutting they'll be coming for your health care!

Any other Republican would go after tax cuts or carpet bomb ISIS or something a Republican could do.
Tackling the most complex and polarizing issue first would just seem to sink his own presidency while creating even more enemies. It's like he's daring them to throw him out. Trump might be gone this year. Congresspeople will likely outlast him.

(2,191 posts)That's the only reason I think he's pushing this now. And I agree that the GOP will lose even more seats than the party in power usually loses in the midterm election, if it passes this bill. And I'm afraid that the GOP is going to try to ensure that the low-information GOP voters don't see any changes until after the 2018 election. So I'm hoping it passes and takes effect immediately. I know people will be hurt. But I think people will be hurt much worse if the GOP holds Congress after 2018.
